Hello, it’s so nice to meet you!

My name is Angela Lam and I am a Toronto-based graphic designer and aspiring creative advertiser. I graduated from OCAD University’s Graphic Design program in 2022; however, I recently returned to school in 2025 to pursue my second credentials in Advertising to gain a new understanding of user-centered design, ethical research, and design strategy.

From a young age, I developed an interest in creating and constructing three-dimensional objects (putting furniture together, building Legos, making clay sculptures, creating jewelery, and more) because I always saw how my father approached his personal and professional construction projects. This knowledge and skill translated well into my young adult life as a graphic designer, because I am now able to think more strategically about how people interact with objects and spaces (which the design is placed on). In particular, this skill aided me in packaging design.

During my studies in graphic design, I received the Kym Pruesse Memorial scholarship from OCAD University in 2021 for excellent standing and understanding for the course of Art and Design Activism.

I am proficient in creating 2D, 3D, and 4D projects such as poster design, packaging design, and motion graphic design. My passion for designing in all three of these dimensions allows me to reimagine key principles from each dimension into another to enhance the effectiveness of the project. I also enjoy incorporating functional and emotional aspects into my designs, prompting the user and/or viewers to develop a unique connection to the project. I believe there’s more to graphic design than just its ability to create visually-stunning projects. It’s also about the functional and emotional aspects that work together to form one narrative, while also creating a whole new experience for the user and/or viewer.

Apart from school, I often like to listen to music such as beautifully composed video game soundtracks where the different layers of instruments and vocal inspires me artistically, allowing me to dig deeper with my projects.  Recently, I enjoy listening to “Memories of Mother” from the God of War soundtrack.
