Tactico is an accessible brand of cuisine scissors designed for individuals above the ages of 12 who have partial blindness, and/or low-fine motor skills such as arthritis. Tactico utilizes a singular substrate packaging that securely encapsulates the scissors, while also making it easier to access compared to the typical plastic packaging.
Scissors are often encased in plastic blister packaging to keep the consumer safe. However, the plastic blister packaging itself is a major problem, because it requires consumers to use another sharp tool, such as another pair of scissors, to access it. Furthermore, while the consumers are cutting open the packaging, they could end up getting injured because they would be exposed to sharp hard plastic edges and corners.

Nonetheless, as we acknowledge that scissors are secured in plastic blister packaging to prioritize the safety of the consumers, we have decided to keep the scissor blades encased within the packaging. However, a solution was to replace the plastic substrate in favor of a new singular cardboard substrate with an added functionality.
In this instance, the cardboard substrate would be molded to the shape and contour of the different scissor blades, allowing the consumers to touch, distinguish, and understand the different variety of scissors without any harm. In addition, the scissor handles are exposed through a die-cut reveal so the consumers would be able to experience and judge the comfortability of the scissors before purchasing them.
In this instance, the cardboard substrate would be molded to the shape and contour of the different scissor blades, allowing the consumers to touch, distinguish, and understand the different variety of scissors without any harm. In addition, the scissor handles are exposed through a die-cut reveal so the consumers would be able to experience and judge the comfortability of the scissors before purchasing them.
As a result, consumers would be able to make a well-informed purchasing decision, especially individuals who have partial blindness. Furthermore, individuals who have low-fine motor skills such as arthritis would be able to access the scissors with ease.
